An additional $8.5 million in tax revenue went to the state of Michigan. The three casinos sent $16.5 million in wagering taxes and development agreement payments to the city of Detroit in August. The year to date total is down 68.4% compared to the same period last year. August’s revenue was $327,291 and $3.4 million for the year so far. Sports betting at Detroit casinos have continued to decline in 2023. However, Motor City Casino, MGM Grand Detroit and Hollywood Casino at Greektown are still pacing ahead of 2022 with a combined $853.7 million in revenue year to date. The total is a slight decrease of roughly 2% compared to the previous month, with most of the revenue coming from table games and slots.
